What standards is this curriculum aligned to?

Because the standards in each state can differ, it is impossible to create a one-size fits all curriculum.Download a complete list of topics included in this curriculum to compare to your own curriculum and standards.

What format are the files in?

All files are in a PDF format; however, the PowerPoint versions of the assessments are included so you can easily make multiple versions or customize to fit your needs. Equation Editor (usually built in to PowerPoint) is required to edit these files. If your Equation Editor is incompatible with mine, simply delete my equation and insert your own. Only assessments are editable.

Will I have access to materials if they are updated?

Yes! If any changes are made to the materials, simply login and redownload from your purchases.

Are answer keys included?

Yes!

Are videos included?

Yes, links to videos (on YouTube) of each lesson in the unit are included. Videos were created by fellow teachers for their students using the guided notes and shared in March 2020 when schools closed with no notice. Please watch through first before sharing with your students. Many teachers still use these in emergency substitute situations.

I love this resource and can't wait to purchase the activity bundle to go with it! It is so well organized and my students have really benefited from the notes. I especially appreciate how clear the notes for writing proofs are. This is such a difficult skill and the author really breaks it down so simply. Thank you for this product!

This is the 2rd Bundle I've bought from Gina with All things Algebra, and I cannot express how much these curriculum have changed my life (both personally and professionally). I teach at a school where the subject that I teach changes from semester to semester. Any and all high school math is fair game to assign me. The units are put together in an organized way and I can spend more of my time working to differentiate instruction, work with students, and find engaging supplemental activities to go along with the material (although I use the Activities Bundles that are an option to purchase all the time). instead of learning and creating a new curriculum from scratch every time they give me a new subject.I have more time at home with my family because of this resource. I actually enjoy teaching more than I ever have after that weight was lifted. I am eternally grateful.

-MICHELLE H.

My students love using this resource! This resource has replaced the current curriculum that I use in my classroom. The students love how to notes include practice problems and they love watching the videos when they are absent or need a refresher. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT! Geometry teachers, this resource eliminates the need to plan. Buy it now!

FAQs

Why is geometry harder than algebra 1? ›

My experience was always that geometry required more memorization where algebra tended to require more information extrapolation, like most of mathematics. Geometry is standard to take after Algebra I, but before Algebra II and III. Geometry is not objectively easier.

How much algebra do you need to know for geometry? ›

Many geometric questions will include at least one step of algebra, as they often fuse geometry and algebra concepts together. For example, students could encounter a question about similar triangles in geometry class with the sides labeled with expressions like x-2.

What's the difference between geometry and algebra? ›

Difference Between Algebra and Geometry

Algebra is a branch of mathematics that uses variables, in the forms of letters and symbols, to act as numbers or quantities in equations and formulas. Geometry is a branch of mathematics that studies points, lines, varied-dimensional objects and shapes, surfaces, and solids.

What is the relationship between algebra and geometry? ›

Algebra and geometry are intimately related. Our first encounter with the merger of algebra and geometry is typically seen in the 2D Cartesian coordinate system, where algebraic equations in one or two variables can be interpreted as lines, curves, and shapes in the plane.

Can I skip geometry and go to algebra 2? ›

It will be a challenging course. Across the board, I always recommend that students take geometry before algebra 2, if possible. I have found in my experience that students benefit from the extra year of math (taking geometry) before they tackle algebra 2.

Is geometry the easiest math? ›

Generally, geometry is harder. You might find Alegra II more difficult than geometry, but the issue with geometry is it requires memorization and utilization of a lot of laws/properties of your trig functions and frequently requires using different views of the same things.

Why are some people better at geometry than algebra? ›

The ease or difficulty of learning geometry versus algebra can vary from person to person. Some individuals may find geometry more intuitive and easier to understand due to its visual nature. Others may prefer the logical structure and problem-solving aspects of algebra.

Should I learn geometry or algebra first? ›

Mathematically, it doesn't matter which one comes first, Geometry or Algebra 2, to be honest. However, your child might benefit if they take geometry before 11th grade, to prepare for the PSAT/NMSQT® and SAT®. Just know that, Geometry is completely different from algebra, much like biology is different from chemistry.

Which is tough algebra or geometry? ›

Is geometry easier than algebra? Geometry is easier than algebra. Algebra is more focused on equations while the things covered in Geometry really just have to do with finding the length of shapes and the measure of angles.

Why is algebra taught before geometry? ›

Jason Roberts doesn't like putting geometry after Algebra 1 because students will forget important concepts before they get to Algebra 2 — but he also rejects teaching geometry first, because that limits the kind of geometry problems students can solve.

How is algebra actually all about geometry? ›

We can plot a set of points (x, y) according to an equation (for example, the line graph on the left!) to form a graph. That's one way that algebra is related to geometry. A set of points can satisfy any equation which can produce any type of graph, not just straight lines.

What is more useful, algebra or geometry? ›

Often geometry provides an intuitive understanding of concepts and algebra provides us the tools to build sophisticated and abstract results on top, that we can use in various applications like physics, engineering and other areas of science. Both are needed for mastery of a wide range of math.

Why is geometry the hardest math? ›

Why is geometry difficult? Geometry is creative rather than analytical, and students often have trouble making the leap between Algebra and Geometry. They are required to use their spatial and logical skills instead of the analytical skills they were accustomed to using in Algebra.

Is honors geometry harder than algebra 1? ›

If you are coming from Algebra I, Honors Geometry can be a challenge, but it is definitely possible to succeed with hard work. “Transitioning from a course like Algebra 1 to Honors Geometry was definitely a big leap in terms of the challenge of the course.

What math class is hardest? ›

Differential equations, real analysis, and complex analysis are some of the most challenging mathematics courses that are offered at the high school level.

Should you take geometry before algebra 1? ›

Typically, students take Geometry after completing Algebra 1, which provides a more solid foundation for understanding shapes, angles, and proofs.
